Job summary:
The Payments Analyst is a key member of the Disbursements and Treasury team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of all payments operations across different regions. This role involves rigorous monitoring and verification of payment cycles managed by our third-party outsourcing provider, implementing robust internal controls, and guaranteeing all transactions adhere to approved limits and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Third-Party Oversight: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the outsourcing provider's payment processes, ensuring all service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics are met.
- Controls & Verification: Implement and perform strong internal controls and verification checks on payment files and transactions before and after processing to prevent errors and fraud.
- Execute manual payments according to received instructions and working procedures
- Compliance & Limits: Ensure strict compliance with internal policies, approved payment limits, and all relevant financial regulations
- Reconciliation & Issue Resolution: Conduct daily and monthly reconciliations of payment records with bank statements, investigating and resolving any discrepancies or failed payments in a timely manner.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payment workflows, reduce errors, and enhance efficiency through continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate accurate and detailed reports on payment activities, trends, and compliance status for management review and internal/external audits.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a subject matter expert for payment inquiries, collaborating effectively with internal departments (e.g., Accounting, IT, Compliance) and external banking partners/vendors to resolve issues.
- Audit support: provide necessary required information for different locations as per the auditors requests
- Ad hoc requests: provide necessary information or reports required by different stakeholders
Requirements:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Proven experience (typically 2+ years) in payments, reconciliations, treasury, or a similar operational finance role, preferably within a shared services environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and/or payment processing systems/tools are essential.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an exceptional attention to detail to identify discrepancies and investigate complex issues.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.
- Compliance Knowledge: A solid understanding of financial controls and regulatory requirements related to payment processing, such as anti-money laundering (AML) laws segregation of duties, four-eyes principles
- Soft Skills: Must be a proactive, self-starter, adaptable team player who can manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
