DRiV is the aftermarket business group of Tenneco - DRiV website

A packaging engineer to optimize safe, cost-effective, and sustainable product packaging items.  In addition, this engineer will send packaging-specific information to product suppliers, along with the DRiV sales and marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Develop and implement optimal packaging solutions.  create cost-effective, durable, and functional packaging designs.  Work with suppliers on updating existing packaging items and designing new items as needed.  Work to ensure new designs are cost-effective, durable, and correct for production packing and shipping. 
  • Cost & Process Optimization: Work with distribution centers and manufacturing locations to improve packaging line efficiency, reduce waste, and lower material costs.  Also improve supply chain efficiency by identifying and addressing packaging-related issues.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with manufacturing, logistics, purchasing, and product management teams.  Work with the logistics team will include making sure suppliers are shipping products in a manner that is efficient and avoids damage during transit.
  • Sustainability Compliance: Research eco-friendly materials and ensure adherence to government regulatory requirements and industry standards. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: Requires three (or more) years of experience in package knowledge, design, or manufacturing operations.  Experience in project management is also required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and enterprise tools like SAP.  Familiarity with packaging manufacturing and automation.  Understanding of barcodes is also required.  Strong communication skills are necessary.
