Controls Engineer Adv. Manufacturing

We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our global DRiV Advanced Manufacturing team. This position will lead development and implementation of a manufacturing excellence road-map, ensuring proper controls engineering & safety critical concepts are incorporated into our investment plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the design, specification, installation, startup and validation of process control systems, electrical systems and instrumentation of capital / upgrade projects.  Ensure DRiV specifications are met and good controls engineering practices are followed. 
  • Coordinate with Regional / plant DRiV Operations to identify requirements for process controls, develop control strategies and implementation plans.
  • Research new technologies, procedures relative to automation and controls that could be utilized to improve the business processes. 
  • Work collectively with the advanced manufacturing team members to analyze, compare and select equipment best suited for various applications. 
  • Collaborate with the regional / plant DRiV EHS & CI teams to assure safety TMSS guidelines are being met and optimal savings projects are meeting equipment & machine standards.
  • Research and analyze best practices in manufacturing concepts and trends for applicability; stay current with emerging technologies and leverage technology to benefit DRiV
  • Engage third-party vendors to quote and source equipment and services necessary for projects.
  • Create project financial model including capital equipment, investment return, labor and related aspects; manage project spending to established plan.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 6+ years of experience in all areas of process control systems encompassing instrumentation, automated control, and electrical distribution, preferably in the a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in programming/troubleshooting Machine Control Systems (PLCs).  Experience with Allen-Bradley, Modicon, and Siemens S7 PLCs is preferred.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Strong Project Management skills coupled with the ability to effectively manage and partner with subordinates, contractors and vendors
  • General understanding of the business case and an appreciation of financial / analytical issues

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Controls Engineering – Automation experience is a plus
