Position Overview

The Lease Accounting Analyst is a key member of the controllership organization responsible for supporting accurate, timely, and compliant accounting and reporting for the Company’s lease portfolio. This role supports the application of ASC 842, maintains lease data and supporting documentation, prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations, and partners cross-functionally with Real Estate, Legal, Operations, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and external auditors to ensure lease transactions are appropriately evaluated, recorded, and reported. The position reports directly to the Lease Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Lease Accounting & ASC 842 Compliance

  • Assist with the accounting and reporting for operating and finance leases in accordance with ASC 842 and Company accounting policies.
  • Review lease agreements and supporting documentation to identify key accounting terms, payment schedules, renewal options, termination provisions, embedded leases, and other provisions impacting lease accounting.
  • Maintain lease data within the lease accounting system, including new leases, amendments, renewals, reassessments, modifications, impairments, asset abandonments, subleases, and terminations.
  • Monitor lease activity for changes that may require accounting reassessment or updates to right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, expense recognition, or disclosures.

Month-End Close, Reconciliations & Reporting

  • Prepare and post monthly lease-related journal entries, including lease expense, interest expense, amortization of right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, straight-line rent, accruals, and reclassification entries.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of lease-related balance sheet and income statement accounts, including right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, and lease expense.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by preparing lease schedules, flux analyses, rollforwards, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with financial statement reporting requirements and lease-related disclosures, including preparation of schedules and support for internal management reporting.

Cross-Functional Support, Controls & Audit

  • Partner with Real Estate, Legal, Operations, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and business teams to ensure lease data, payment information, and accounting records are complete and accurate.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and maintaining appropriate support for lease accounting conclusions and control activities.
  • Assist with process improvements, control enhancements, and system updates related to lease accounting, reporting, and data integrity.
  • Prepare ad hoc lease analyses and reporting as requested by accounting leadership, finance partners, or business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required

Certification

CPA or CPA eligibility preferred, but not required

Experience

1–3 years of accounting, finance, audit, lease accounting, or corporate accounting experience; experience with ASC 842, lease accounting software, ERP systems, or internal controls preferred

Core Competencies

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with ASC 842 lease accounting requirements.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to review contracts and translate lease terms into accounting conclusions, lease system inputs, and supporting documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with lease accounting software such as Visual Lease, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or similar systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of OneStream consolidation system and related financial reporting workflows preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a fast-paced close environment.
  • Collaborative communication style with the ability to work effectively across accounting, finance, legal, real estate, operations, and audit teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with an interest in enhancing processes, controls, systems, and reporting routines.

Compensation:The base pay for this position generally ranges between $70,000 - $85,000. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
