ABOUT THE ROLE
The Smyrna Tennessee distribution center is looking to hire an intern to assist the site with problem solving initiatives and implementing continuous improvement concepts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify process bottlenecks and work with supervisors and leads to develop solutions
- Perrform time studies to assist industrial engineer with developing business cases for projects
- Train team members on how to use industrial engineering and continuous improvement concepts through presentations and hands on activities
- Assist in developing 5S standardization and deploying it across the site
- Lead and co-lead kaizen events
- Develop tools to gather evidence of improvements and standards both past and present
- Update and maintain CAD drawings of the three buildings at the site
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Ability to read, write, and fully comprehend and communicate in English
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Willingness to learn and take initiative on new tasks
- Able to work in an engaging, fast-paced, and learning-oriented environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This internship takes place in an office environment and warehouse environment that requires steel-toe shoes. The intern will be occassionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The intern is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The intern may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.

Compensation for this position is based on the candidate's graduation date. Starting pay ranges from $23.50 - $33.50.
